Technical analysis of high pressure common rail high pressure oil pump for diesel engine

Common rail test stand high-pressure fuel pump is the interface between high-pressure circuit and low-pressure circuit. Under all working conditions, it is mainly responsible for providing enough high-pressure fuel in the whole life of the vehicle. At the same time, it must ensure the additional fuel supply and pressure requirements required for rapid start-up of the engine.


The three plungers are driven by cams on the drive shaft to and fro. When the plunger moves downward, the suction valve for the suction stroke opens, allowing low-pressure fuel to enter the pump chamber. When the plunger reaches the bottom stop point, the inlet valve will close and the fuel in the pump chamber will move upward. Under the action of the dynamic plunger, it is pressurized and transported to the accumulator, waiting for the injection.


The high pressure oil pump is installed in the same position as the traditional diesel distributor pump. It is driven by the engine through the pulley, the pulley and the gear belt, and its maximum speed does not exceed 3000 rpm. High pressure pumps are lubricated by low pressure oil. The high pressure oil pump is equipped with an electromagnetic valve for pressure control. The fuel is compressed by three radially mounted 120 degree interval pump plungers. Each turn of the high-pressure pump has three times of fuel supply. The peak drive torque is low and the pump drive system maintains a relatively stable load. The torque of 16N. M is about one-ninth of the torque required to drive an equally distributed pump, which means that the common rail system has less load on the pump than the conventional injection system. The required power is proportional to the common rail pressure and pump speed (fuel supply).
